The $18.3 million riverfront redevelopment project that will link Mildura’s CBD to the Murray River is underway.
Featuring a series of terraced steps and ramps, the new pathway will extend from the end of Langtree Avenue, across the existing railway line and down to the river bank beyond.
“We are really blessed in Mildura, being set in such a picturesque location, right on the banks of the Murray”, Cr Arnold said.
The Langtree Connection will provide direct access from the city centre to the river, which will be great for locals and the thousands of visitors Mildura attracts each year.
The Mildura Riverfront Precinct Redevelopment project is jointly funded by the Federal Government, Victorian State Government and Mildura Rural City Council.
Construction of the Langtree Connection is being undertaken by local contractors King Construction Group, and work is expected to take approximately 12 months.
Other elements of the riverfront redevelopment project are moving ahead, with the whole precinct buzzing with activity. A water play zone on the former Ornamental Lake site is expected to be completed by June 2015 and a 1.2km pedestrian promenade along the riverfront, complete with four exercise stations is nearing completion.
